Bruce Campbell has never been one to follow convention. In his early twenties, he purchased 10 acres of dense Oregon forest for just $23,000, not to build a traditional home—but to bring a bold, imaginative dream to life.

At first, Campbell planned to construct a house from cargo containers, but everything changed when he read about a woman who transformed a Boeing 727 into a residence. Inspired by the idea of giving old machinery a new life, he knew he had found his mission.

In 1999, Campbell bought a retired Boeing 727 from Olympic Airways for $100,000. Getting the aircraft from Athens, Greece, to Oregon wasn’t easy—or cheap. The transportation alone cost around $120,000, bringing the total investment to over $220,000. But to Campbell, it was a worthwhile price for a lifelong vision.

Once the jet arrived on his land, he began the painstaking process of converting it into a fully functional living space. Unlike most renovations, Campbell chose to preserve much of the plane’s original character. The cockpit remains intact, a nod to the aircraft’s history, and the windows flood the cabin with natural light.

Inside, the Boeing now features a cozy kitchen, a shower, and a sleeping area, all nestled within the fuselage that once soared through the skies. The result is a fusion of industrial engineering and minimalist living—a home that’s as much about sustainability and innovation as it is about style.
